I was very impressed and honored to see that a well known french IT magazine – Clubic – included RIOT among the best 50 freeware applications of the year 2009.
My surprise was even bigger to find RIOT was the first in the category “Les meilleurs outils graphiques gratuits de l’année 2009″ (The best free graphic utilities of year 2009).

version 0.3.5 is out

- bugfix: Save image fails in some cases. It occurs only when the image is opened by command line or drag & drop and “Show dialog on Save”
is disabled (default) – the original image is not updated (overwritten).

RIOT for GIMP released

Riot for GIMP was released. It can be downloaded from the GIMP Plugin Registry

This plug-in calls RIOT for the selected area/layer.

After months of preparing the next version of branch 0.3, I want to announce the availability of the latest stable version – 0.3.4.
This version aims to provide the most stable version of RIOT since the beginning of this project.
The most important fix addresses the infamous Vista SP2 access violation after displaying the save dialog. This error occurs only in the DLL version (IrfanView plugin). Users of the standalone application never experienced that.

This new version offers some nice speed improvements when working with JPEG and PNG, it corrects a series of bugs and provides some features like the full screen view, improved save functions, extended support for Photoshop PSD files.

I am working on a GIMP plugin that offers the same functionality as the IrfanView plugin.
GIMP users will have a new option in File->Save for web with RIOT which opens the current image in RIOT for filesize optimization.

The official IrfanView plugins package contains now version 0.3.3 Lite of RIOT.
It is a good thing becase many problems have been fixed since 0.1.7 (last version bundled) and new features have been introduced.
Among the most important changes are the new interface, unicode support, ability to import metadata, mask/transparency options, several speed optimizations and fixes. Read [...]

Hello all,
RIOT version 0.3.3 is available.
This version is a stablity release that addresses some problems with memory management and provides several fixes and optimizations. One important fix is for TIFF support. RIOT is again able to open files with different compression methods.

RIOT 0.3.1 for IrfanView was released but removed shortly afterwards.
An access violation was thrown during program initialization.
