Hi, I made an account here just to post this message:
I am looking for batch image automation software and RIOT is the top result on google.
I installed RIOT, then immediately uninstalled it after finding that it ignores directory structure. Batch processing that behaves this way is useless in > 90% of use cases, so I'd recommend just removing batch processing from RIOT if you're not going to implement it properly.
I am logging out and won't be back, just thought I'd make the effort to speak for the (who knows how many) users who try your product, find it doesn't do what they want, and then go back to the next google result...
EDIT: Updating this because I've found a workaround. Irfanview includes RIOT as a plugin, and also has an option to recreate the directory structure. This can be found by clicking "Set Advanced Options" in the batch conversion window, and then enabling the "Create subfolders in destination folder" option.
You can exclusively test version 0.6 alpha which contains the feature to save in the original folder thus keeping directory structure.
NOTE: This is an alpha version and that means a development version, posibly with unstable code.
Please send me all issues found.

lucian, thanks you very much.
OMG its almost here... testing now.
Hi Lucian, not sure what happened on my side i tested it out and it added a .original extension to all files i attempted to compress. Strange ? Has this happened to anyone ?
Ok had another go, looks like the original extension was done because of setting for save a copy of original file. I removed this and ran it again.
However this time i just deleted all files and i have no idea where it compressed them to. It should have been in the original location as i checked that option in settings. ?
Ok last test, all works well, i had to select some options in settings so everything works ok.
With the following selected it will overwrite files in original location perfectly fine.
- Overwrite existing files
- Report file size changes
- Save in original folder
You can check - Backup original on overwrite incase you want to see original files still in folders.
Thank you so much for this update that has been in the making for many years.
Some final feedback.
1. Possible to add feature to remember last windows sizes, it seems to reset to original size every time
2. Possible to add not just difference in % percentage of file size but also output the actual before and after file sizes would be great ")
Thank you very much.
I tried this feature in action. Works perfectly!
Thanks to the author for a very necessary addition!
I am not a developer, so mistakes I found.
Excellent work!
