In batch mode, there is an option to "Add all images from folder (including subfolders)" but don't see any way to save all the images into their original subfolders. It always puts all the files into single specified output folder. Could there be an option to retain original folder structure?

Yes, this is planned too.

Yes, the opportunity to save the picture to the original subfolder is currently missing also in GUI mode, at least, if one comes from Irfanview and uses the resize option before. It would also be nice to have the option to use some standard modification of the original file name as default value for the target, eg. "IMG123_riot.jpg", if the source was "IMG123.jpg", or something like that. A mask could be used, eg. "%n%" for filename, "%e%" for file extension, and then the user could declare the default target name as "%n%_riot.%e%", or "%n%_small.%e%", or something.

I would really like to see this feature as well. Is there any plans for it?
Posted 11 years ago # -
As you can see from the title this feature request is accepted. It will be implemented in v. 0.6
Posted 11 years ago # -
Just to say that I've come here to request this feature.
So thanks for implementing it.
Can't wait the 0.6 ;)Posted 11 years ago # -
When will v0.6 be ready? Is there a beta?
Posted 11 years ago # -
Hey, I also REALLY looking forward to it, as I'm currently stuck.
Is there a different workaround or other tool you know to solve this problem. I've got hundreds of files I'm optimizing from my website and it will take days to put them on the right folders.
Thanks,

Hi,
Thank you for this great tool!
Whats about saving files in the original-folder?Posted 9 years ago # -
Your tool is very useful! Only lacks for saving images with retaining the original folder structure. If there is a functional, then I will certainly do a monetary contribution. (Donate).

Hi all, I will start working on this feature in a week. I will post here a private beta. Thank you for your support.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Hi, how long will it take for the beta to come out?
Posted 9 years ago # -
It is very nice to see that this great feature is coming to be a reality having this software very useful. Can't wait to grab the new version!!!! Can we get a hint when the beta could be out?

Hi,
Very powerfull tool! The only "oups" is that batch mode don't save images in original folders. Is v0.6 out?
Posted 9 years ago # -
Still waiting for completion. Saving optimized images in the original folder structure - a very important and useful function.
If there is a functional, then I will certainly do a monetary contribution. (Donate).

Hi, every one.
I will to it will be so fast to optimize the pictures :)Posted 8 years ago # -
Hi every one,
4 years and still not implemented ? This is a very useful feature, if you have more than 5000+ pictures at once to optimize ;-). A must have.
When can we expect it ?Posted 8 years ago # -
If there is a functional (saving images with retaining the original folder structure), then I will certainly do a monetary contribution. (Donate).

How is it possible that a feature request by so many people that need it is still not completed in 4 years ???? sorry but this is unacceptable and just a lack of attention to the future and longevity of this product by the Author.
If the Author does not want to continue development of RIOT please make it opensource and let the community take over dev.

@mitchm. please ask for a refund :)

Well thats a positive response to give to a loyal user :)
You have people wanting to throw money at you for features they want you to implement, this being one of them.
Your obviously dont have business skills, either that or you have so much money your swimming in it.
Regardless of the reason the fact of the matter is a feature request has been asked repeatedly for 4 YEARS, and nothing has been done.
I would be most happy to pay for commercial software IF i see a proactive attempt to listen to your users and also put the most asked feature requests.
Which is something i sadly do not see with you and your software. So be it, i know im speaking on behalf of many users anyway, so go do what you want and hell keep give smart remarks like you did to me instead of giving a constructive answer.

The sad reality is
1. I didn't had any time for RIOT
2. It does not produce significant revenue (remember it is free, and donations are around 10 USD/month). So people are not really throwing with money here
3. This feature is planned, but it will be completed when my full time job allows itPosted 8 years ago # -
my last post, "Posted 8 months ago #". luciansabo, I think it simple task maybe it only waste 1-3 hour of your time,
1. create checkbox (or any)
2. if checked get original folder image location
3. load image into memory or temporary move/rename
4. do optimizing
5. if success save optimized image and delete original file
.
if you dont have that hour, me or other is welcome to help you to improve this software.Posted 8 years ago # -
Hi L,
Thanks for your explanation.
I completely understand so its expected. However i think people think that just nothing is being done for a long time which is the reason why i mentioned making it opensource and it grow, that is the whole point of opensource and great success can come from it.
@ewwink has even offered to help with development.
@luciansabo as you can see people are willing to help, im even willing to lend a hand if i can in some aspects.
Why dont you put a poll out and see what the community wants and how much they are willing to pay for the software eg $10, $20 something reasonable obviously, maybe have a free version and a paid version the paid version has premium features like these most common requests for example.
Like me and many have said they are willing to PAY for the software but me and everyone needs to know that progress is actually being made.
Let me know if i can assist in some way.

I don't want to promise anything anymore because I didn't had time, but I really want to add this feature and I will try to find the time in the next period.
It is not about the money. It is about time and priorities.Posted 8 years ago #
