Hello, request for batch optimizer.
Overwrite original file only if optimized file have smaller file size.
Cheers

Good suggestion. There are some issues with the format though. If the requested format is different than the original, it should output the selected format for consistency.
I will create an automatic optimization mode, where the best output format will be automatically selected.Posted 12 years ago # -
Thank you.
One question: in automatic mode can we have option to "always use" some options? Like: always use "chroma subsampling: None (4:4:4)".
One more thing: If output file is bigger try to remove all metadata only and then check size (without changing quality etc.).
Cheers

The automatic optimization mode is beyond the scope of this feature, which will be implemented only in batch.

The automatic optimization mode purpose is to automatically detect best settings, not rely on manual selection.
If output file is bigger try to remove all metadata only and then check size (without changing quality etc.).
Metadata is subject of need, not optimization, much like transparency. Automatic optimization assumes metadata is not needed, but this setting can be overridden by user.
In your case, just select to remove metadata from the start, if you don't need it.Posted 12 years ago # -
OK, thank you. I'll wait for automatic mode and check how it will works for me.
I probably will stick with batch mode and for files that have output bigger than input I'll use "jpegtran -copy none -optimize -progressive" as now I use it.
Cheers
